The Accreditation Committee at MCS is pleased to announce that Montessori Country School’s self-study was thoroughly reviewed and officially approved in July 2024. We now have a visiting team assigned for the upcoming site visit, consisting of three experienced Montessori educators with expertise spanning all Montessori levels. They are affiliated with American Montessori Society (AMS) accredited schools throughout the United States . All team members must meet specific credentials set by AMS in order to serve on an accreditation team, and many hold leadership positions within their organizations.
Per the AMS website:
At the end of the self-study period, the school hosts a team of peers from other AMS-accredited schools for an onsite visit. A major objective of the visit is to determine whether the school seeking accreditation is in compliance with AMS Standards & Criteria. The visit includes document review, observations, and interviews. The culmination of the onsite visit is a report, prepared by the team, in which they summarize their findings for review by the AMS School Accreditation Commission and AMS Board of Directors.
The onsite visit offers an invaluable opportunity to gain insight from other well-regarded leaders in the [AMS] community. Typically, it is seen as a joyous affirmation of the many wonderful things the school is doing well and a helpful guide for future improvements.
The visiting team will schedule interviews throughout the week with various members of the school community. Interviews will be conducted with various MCS community stakeholders: parents, teachers, administrators, and board members. Additionally, team members will be observing the daily schedules both inside the classrooms and in other areas of the school. The visiting team will have a space on campus where they will privately meet and discuss their daily findings.
